No one in between, How can we be wrong?

Friday. Sunny. Time to reflect…

Had a lovely wee break on Arran recently with my family. Easter egg hunt at Brodick Castle a highlight – my youngest getting stung by a wasp a lowlight… but a grand time had by all. Scotland in the sun is a perfect holiday destination. Although a local farmer did note that we had timed it well to avoid the dreaded midges… Wasps might sting but midges swarm. Not even midges (or wasps) would put me off – nice wee overview of the island on the Arran Trust website here:

You might be aware that Volunteer Week is taking place 1-7 June 2015. Check out Karen’s twitter feed – @EngageRW – or her facebook page for more details as they emerge…

Many thanks to our colleagues at Voluntary Action Scotland who helped in putting together a case study looking at our work around embedding the third sector in the Getting it Right for Every Child agenda. The case study talks about the ‘Renfrewshire’ approach and how we worked through it. The case study can be seen here:

Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme – An opportunity for Renfrewshire businesses to connect to superfast fibre broadband

On 1 April 2015 the Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme was launched in Renfrewshire and other local authorities in the west of Scotland. The vouchers are designed to help with the capital costs of connecting/upgrading to superfast broadband. Businesses obtain a quote from a registered supplier (there are over 540 nationwide, including BT, Virgin, Sky, and so on) and then submit an application form via the website . If approved the money is paid directly to the supplier. 100% of installation costs are funded up to £3,000, and joint applications to pool funding to shared business premises is encouraged. The Vouchers will be made available on a first come, first served basis.
